Official Statement - Supply & Confidence Agreement
22 mars 2022
As the Member of Parliament for Yukon, I was elected by my constituents to bring their voice to Ottawa and to help make life better for Yukoners.   I support the supply and confidence agreement between the government and the NDP. This government has made important and ambitious commitments in a time when we need bold action to support Canadians. Whether helping Yukoners to afford a home, to improve access to quality health care, urgently addressing climate change, transitioning to a greener economy, or advancing the critical work of reconciliation, we have much to accomplish. MPs were elected to work together to make progress for Canadians. I was elected to work for Yukoners.  Yukoners and Canadians expect us to work together in Parliament.   With this agreement, the NDP has agreed to support confidence votes until the next scheduled election in the fall of 2025. Having this stability will enable Parliament and parliamentary committees to work more efficiently on the vital issues we face. The government and opposition parties, including the NDP, will continue to debate on issues we disagree over. This agreement simply means that cooperation is assured when it comes to matters of confidence for the next four years.   Canadians elected this House of Commons to work collaboratively. By pursuing a supply and confidence agreement, we can make real progress for our country.   I am proud to be a part of this government having reached a supply and confidence agreement, to get things done for Yukoners and for Canada.
