Dear Yukoners, While we breathed a sigh of relief with the one-month reprieve from Trump’s tariff threat, we also know that the threat remains. Having listened to many of you, I want to acknowledge the very real anxiety that is affecting businesses, families, and communities in the Yukon and around the country. I want to assure you that while engaging with Yukoners, I remain in close touch with caucus colleagues and the federal ministers involved. With the Team Canada plan, our federal government has worked in close collaboration with the territories and provinces. We have been, and will continue to prepare for what comes, protecting our sovereignty and the things that matter most to us as a country. While preparing for countermeasures, I recognize that we need to take a hard look within. We need to enhance interprovincial trade to boost economies and foster regional collaboration. Meanwhile, we’re working closely with Canadian businesses to work to address and minimize the impact on workers and communities. In the Yukon, we have a lot to offer—our resources, our ingenuity, and our hardworking people. We will use these strengths to keep our economy going and our communities strong. While the House is prorogued until March 24, I’m excited to be here in the Yukon, rolling up my sleeves to address the issues that matter to Canadians, especially the unique challenges we face in the North. I had the honour of speaking at the AME Roundup, one of the world’s largest mineral exploration conferences, where we discussed the critical role that our region plays in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future. I’m proud of the work we’re doing here and look forward to the opportunities ahead as we continue to strengthen the North and contribute to a brighter, more resilient Canada.
