King Charles III’s Coronation Medal

The Coronation Medal commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada.

A Canadian commemorative medal has been designed to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023. This is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation. This prestigious medal, administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall, will recognize 20 members of our community who have made significant contributions to Canada.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal aims to honour 30,000 remarkable Canadians of all ages and from various backgrounds who have positively impacted their communities. I am honoured to participate as a nominating partner, and I invite you to nominate individuals in your life who have made a difference in our community.

To be eligible for this honour, a person must have:

  • Made significant contributions to the country, territory, region, or community or made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada;
  • And been alive on May 6, 2023, when His Majesty was crowned.

Guidelines for the selection of nominees:

  • The individual must live in the Yukon to be nominated through my office.
  • Nominations should focus on the achievements of persons who have helped build the Canada of today, including youth, volunteers, educators, veterans and healthcare workers.
  • Nominees may be selected for their long service and good conduct as a volunteer or member of an organization; for having demonstrated high professionalism; or for performing a deed or activity that brings great credit to Canada.
  • Through their achievements and sustained contributions, nominees will have distinguished themselves from others employed in the same field.
  • The Medal is to be awarded to individuals only, not to groups or couples.
  • Self-nominations will not be accepted.
